Vivek states that just because you take insurance does not mean that you cannot be highly profitable! With proper attention to reimbursement and negotiations, insurance driven practices can match or even surpass fee for service practices. He goes on to say that the number one issue causing accounts receivable balances, is a lack of proper expectations set with the patient. If a patient thinks that their insurance should have covered a balance, they will be reluctant to pay the amount out of pocket. This is why being very clear with obligations and insurance roles with save future headaches for your treatment coordinator. Vivek also notes that being confident and standing your ground with pricing is an important factor in psychology and transparency with your patients. If they are looking for a second opinion, that is okay!
